Agribusiness Market and Support Activity

The USAID Indonesia funded AMARTA project is a 3 year, $14.9 million project from September 2006 to September 2009 to assist the Government of Indonesia to promote a robust Indonesian agribusiness system that will significantly contribute to gainful employment, growth, and prosperity. AMARTA will work with private businesses, farmers and other actors to improve efficiency, productivity, and product quality in nine value chains. These value chains will include high-value export commodities, hypermarket quality horticulture products, cocoa in Sulawesi and other commodities in Northern Sumatra and/or Aceh, Bali, Java, Papua and the NTT/NTB areas for domestic and export markets.

Papua Agriculture Development Alliance (PADA)

AMARTA has formed a public private partnership with PT. Freeport Indonesia called The Papua Agriculture Development Alliance (PADA) to bring economic development to remote areas of Papua. AMARTA is providing technical assistance, training and grant awards for fishing activities in Kokonao, coffee development in Wamena and Moanemani, and livestock and rice in Agimuga.
